Description

Passiflora caerulea is a species of flowering plant in the passionflower family. It is a vigorous, deciduous or semi-evergreen tendril vine that can grow up to 10 m (33 ft) long. The leaves are alternate, palmately lobed with five lobes, and up to 10 cm (4 in) long and 12 cm (5 in) broad. The flowers are 6–10 cm (2–4 in) in diameter, appear from early summer to late autumn, and have a prominent fringe of white, blue, or purple coronal filaments. The fruit is an oval orange-yellow berry, containing numerous seeds. It is native to South America and is widely cultivated in other parts of the world.
